attachments not uploading

Users cannot send attachments. I've done some testing myself. I've tried attachments of various sizes. Only the very smallest (2.4 kb) uploaded. As for the rest when a user clicks send, the browser tries and tries
but never gets anywhere
In Global Settings/MTA:
Maximum message size (kb):* 43008
Maximum size of an uploaded file(kb):* 40960

Try setting the sizes with this command:

zmprov mcf zimbraMtaMaxMessageSize 10240000
zmprov mcf zimbraFileUploadMaxSize 10485760

PS Those sizes are in bytes not kilobytes, change it for your required upload size (including the overhead of conversion).

I ran the zmprov commands and restarted with
tomcat stop;tomcat start;zmcontrol stop;zmcontrol start
but am still unable to attach.

What is the size of the file you're trying to attach and what error messages are in the logs?

Check your logs. There has to be something in them.

Check the logs and show us with a display of those fields (using zmprov) what the actual entry is and post the output here.
