Thunderbird/Lightning Task

I just installed the lightning 0.8 extension on TB 2.0.0.12 and can't seem to use the task add function in the Today pane or in the equivalent box in the task window. I think the last post is a viable option, but was wondering how you associate task with a specific calendar in lightning within thunderbird. I have noticed that I can get task posting to work if I go into the New Task window where it gives an option about which to associate it with and associate it with a local calendar, but either of the 'quick add' task options don't work (i.e., they don't appear anywhere). I think you have a workable temporary solution, but am not sure how where that option is.

To get it partially working in both:

Subscribe to a new "Calendar" - choose ICS and subscribe to:
http(s)://mail.example.com/home/<user>/Tasks

Now, you can create tasks on the task pane, as long as they are associated with Tasks. They'll show up online as well. You can mark them as completed. If you choose "Hide completed tasks", they'll even disappear.

To add a task, you should right-click in the tasks pane and choose new task, then you can select the Tasks calendar from there.

What's still broken:

• No way to delete them within TB. (Old ICS bug.)
• Quick add is almost useless, since you can't be sure which "calendar" it is adding to. (Work around, make sure the "Tasks" calendar is always selected.)

Overall, it's still frustrating how poorly Lightning and Zimbra work together. Tags, categories, etc, never copy across (for me). At least 0.8 is starting to work better!

Hi,

have the same issue reported in the previous post, plus lightning continuously pops out the reminder window for all my appointments, over and over again, no matter how many times i click Dismiss All...

Thunderbird version 2.0.0.12 and Lightning 0.8.

I think the mix is a long way from being even usable...

Yes I am having the same problem as well. I can't get the reminders to stop popping up. What I do is that when it pops up, I don't dismiss. I would go to see details and change the reminder from what ever time to no reminder. This however does not work if I have a re-occuring event. The thing still pops up. and won't go away..

Yep same here, would be pretty much perfectish if this was sorted.

Hey,

I was having this exact problem with reminders as well. I bit the bullet and upgraded to the latest nightly build of Lightning and it appears fixed - at least, I've stopped getting popups for the one task I was testing with.

The new builds are available here:

Both Sunbird and Lightning are available. Note that these are bleeding edge releases so other stuff may break, but it seems to be working OK for me.

I did setup Zimbra 5.0.7 tasks as iCal calendar (and calendar as CalDAV) resource under Thunderbird/Lightning (CalDAV didn't work for tasks) - and first it worked only if task was created from Lightning not in Zimbra - also it didn't display Zimbras tasklist. BUT after TB restart it worked - it did pick up Zimbras task list and task creation-management works with one bigger exception - task has to be deleted from Zimbra - deleting from TB won't work.
