Hope this nice function could be released soon.
we need this feature!!!
So did this get added to ZCS 6.0? Can find no documentation on it.
As you could see from checking the status of Bug 24213 - RFE: SOAP api or zmprov to allow admins to add buddies, which is still marked as "ASSIGNED", this bug has not been fixed in 6.0.0 (or 6.0.1, or.....)
Been waiting for this feature forever...
As we all have since IM was first introduced way back in the Betas
What I really don't understand is Zimbra uses Openfire as the IM server (or at the very least a version of it from back when it was Wildfire), and there is a built in admin console for that that includes things like contact groups, which is what most of us are looking for. Why we couldn't just get a link to that admin console is bizarre, even if it was buried so deep you wouldn't normally find it (of course if this is already the case and somebody has found it, please share!).
While we're all anxiously awaiting this feature in ZCS 7.0, I hacked together a shell script to accomplish pretty much the same thing (populating buddy lists from a Distribution List):
XMPP Instant Messaging - Group Rosters - Zimbra :: Wiki
Is this feature still in development? I guess the bug status is still active. I am trying to add buddies on my ZCS 6.0.7, have to add the very same buddies every time i login..
Like you guys have said above, It would be great if we can create groups or a list of buddies which automatically populates to the list of IM buddies. mmm, i guess it is targeted for 7.0. It's a great feature, I am goin to vote for it.
As of now I guess, those mail addresses saved in our Address Book won't add to the IM list on its own.
