Configuring Mac OS X to authenticate via Zimbra LDAP?

Greetings,

Is this possible? Zimbra is running a full LDAP server that includes our entire list of employees, and we are looking to setup an LDAP server that has such a list. We are almost entirely Mac-based (except for our servers), and I'm running into a great deal of trouble trying to get Mac OS X 10.4.11 to authenticate off of names in the LDAP server.

Specifically, the problem I run into is when it asks for credentials to access the directory. No name/password combination meets the credentials, and I'm not sure what else it's asking for.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

The information posted there is helpful in terms of configuration, but my basic problem is more of Mac interface question. I'm not sure what credentials I'm being asked for when Mac OS X requests a distinguished name and password. It sounds like it wants the zimbra admin's name and password, which could be root.

This would mean:
Distinguished Name: uid=root,cn=admins,cn=zimbra,dc=domain,dc=org
Password: <zimbra LDAP root password>

Same issue ! I'm trying to connect through an external service to the Zimbra LDAP - and am unsure what my Distinguished Name and passwd should be ?

Can someone help ?

It's necessary the root password ? Is it valid an administrator one ?
