    Default 'stats' Service Keeps Dying

I read in one post that this might be connected to log rotation and permissions on a folder or file. But the post wasn't clear on which folder or file that would be... (Release 4.5.9_GA_1454.RHEL4_64_20071016190715 RHEL4_64 NETWORK edition)

    How frequently does it die?

If you are by any chance using the Simple Shell Script backup from the wiki, this happens whenever crontab restarts Zimbra using
    Code:
    sudo -u zimbra /opt/zimbra/bin/zmcontrol start
Unfortunately the alternative syntax, also discussed in the same wiki article, results in even more services not working on my Ubuntu installation, so since I have yet to see an adverse effect from the dead Stats service I have not worried about it.

Just a quick clarification to prevent confusion. There was a bug that caused the logger service to stop because of log rotation (It removed the PID). That was only applicable for the logger service.

So, it's important that we not get the two confused. There's actually a bug open to change the name of the stats service.

    Now onto the stats service:
Is there anything in your logs that indicate why it stopped?

It seems to die every day sometime after midnight. I'm not using the script you mentioned as far as know... And to run zimbra commands, I tend to su - and become root then 'su -zimbra'. But again, I don't really do much there other than the current mail migration where I'm adding new domains and users each night. I should be done with the migration by December 15th. After that, I will likely only work that way rarely...
