[SOLVED] Attached wav file causes SOAP Fault

Hi,

When my users try to attach a wav file (comes from our voicemail system if it matters), they get a SOAP Fault error. I've been able to duplicate this using the Outlook connector and the web client.


Error message follows:

Could not send message: mail.SEND_FAILURE

msg - SMTP server reported: null
code - mail.SEND_FAILURE
method - ZmCsfeCommand.prototype.invoke
detail - soap:Sender
data - [object Object]

Can anyone help me figure this one out?

We're using ZCS Network Edition 4.5.10.

You might check allowed attachment types in the Global settings, Attachments tab of the admin UI. See if .wav is in the list of prohibited attachment types.

This should still cause a rejection message, not a SOAP error, but it's a logical place to look.

Sure enough - wav was listed in the banned attachments. However, I'm still getting the same error. Do I need to restart a specific service before the change takes effect?

I didn't think so, but since it may be affecting configuration in postfix (I'm not sure), it certainly would be worth trying a stop and restart of the whole Zimbra suite. I'm not a fan of stopping and restarting a single service because sometimes another service may get confused by the new pid, or by trying to access the old service while you have it stopped. So I just prefer to su as the zimbra user, then do a zmcontrol stop, wait about 15-20 seconds after all services are stopped, and then zmcontrol start. It's safer IMHO.

I absolutely agree about the odd error. Would you please file a bug in Bugzilla with as much detail as possible about what you experienced, including the text of the errors?
