Default [SOLVED] Service Error Sending Emails

    Hello,

I am looking at Zimbra to replace my email hosting services, and for a start I am looking at the Open Source version.

I have got it all set up, and it recieves email fine, however, the interface in several different browsers (Linux Firefox, Mac Firefox, Mac Safari, etc) all throw up an error when I try to send an email:

    A service error has occurred.

    msg - system failure: MessagingException
    code - service.FAILURE
    method - ZmCsfeCommand.prototype.invoke
    detail - soap:Receiver

    Please can anyone help?

    Thanks!!

    Welcome to the forums.

You need to have a correct /etc/hosts file and if you are behind a NAT device you'll also need correct a local DNS server with correct A & MX records pointing to the Zimbra server (plus, of course, the obvious external records pointing to your domain). I would suggest that there was an error during the install that pointed to an MX record problem, check the logs to see if there was anything wrong during the install.
    Regards

    Hello,

Indeed there was errors relating to DNS records, that was down to changing the DNS records and being slightly less than patient..

Is there a way of reinstalling without losing all my information?

    Thanks for your help!

    Sorry.. Ignore that..

I took the plunge and ditched all my content. There was not really anything exciting in my mailboxes anyway.

I deleted the accounts and re-configured it. Looks to be working a treat..

    Thanks for your help!!!

Have you made all the required changes? You can check it with the following (run on the zimbra server):

    Code:
host `hostname` <-- type as-is with backticks not single quotes
    dig yourdomain.com mx
    dig yourdomain.com any
and post the output of those commands.
    Regards

Looks very very nice... seems to be happy now, but i'll need to do some testing!

We are in need for a new mail server where I work, and if I can get it to integrate with Apple's LDAP server, I can see us switching over quite quickly!
