Tasks and handheld/mobile sync, all at once?

Folks:

I have a feeling that the answer to this is going to be a resounding "heck, no", but perhaps someone knows of a workaround. We are currently running the 5.0 open-source edition, but have purchased a license for the 4.5.7 network edition.

We went with the 5.0 OSS because we need to support task lists. But we would also like to be able to sync with handhelds of various flavors. Is there any way, under the present set of distribution options, to do both at once? We think probably not, but we're new at this.

If anybody has a workaround for this I'd love to know it -- but be gentle, it's our first time
