| | | Hello,
Still the same. Even tried to add RAM (total 2Gb) and still can't login.
My goal is not to bring the server back to life, but to get back all the mails it contains. Is there any tool I could use to export mailboxes without using pop/imap but only filesystem ?
Thanks,
David |

| | | Hello,
Could anyone tell me if there's any way to export mail when zimbra won't start ? The filesystem and the mysql server are ok, so is there any tool allowing mailbox exportation withouth using imap/pop3 ?
Thanks,
David |

| | What state is this in now? Which version of Zimbra are you running? Do an 'zmcontrol -v' and post the details. You've got 2GB on this server, correct? Which operating systems is this? Are you running Zimbra in a VM? Shutdown Zimbra then try a restart and check the status of the running services with 'zmcontrol status' - post the details and any errors you are seeing in the logs (including catalina.out) since the last startup.
I'd suggest you make a full backup of the /opt/zimbra directory using rsync before we go any further.

| | | Hello,
I have a backup that I could use to restore Zimbra in a functional state. The problem is that I lost 2 weeks of mail. Before restoring that backup, I cloned the entire hard disk so that I can try to get lost e-mails back later on.
It's Zimbra 3.0.1_GA running on Fedora Core 4 (2.6.11). The catalina.out always tells the same thing (see previous post for details) :
javax.servlet.UnavailableException: Requested array size exceeds VM limit
What I tried :
- playing with the tomcat_java_heap_memory_percent parameter as suggested, setting it to 10,20,30,...80,90
- upgrading to the lastest version

| | | Yes indeed I tried to upgrade to 4.5.10. I always make a backup before that kind of operation so I got back to 3.0.1, which is what is running now. |

zmlocalconfig -e mysql_memory_percent=10 Is that their current settings? If it is leave them alone for now. So, are we back at the original problem of the MTA not starting and asking for a password or is Zimbra running OK?

| No more password problem, it was a sudoers issue that is fixed now. Zimbra seems to start, zmcontrol status says everything is running. But when I try to login (webmail) I get "An unknown application error has occurred. Please correct any errors and retry. If the problem persists, please contact your System Aministrator. (INVALID_PDU)"
After that, zmcontrol status says mailbox is not running and I get this in catalina.out :
javax.servlet.UnavailableException: Requested array size exceeds VM limit
By the way, thank you for your support.

| | OK, let's start with this: Code: zmlocalconfig -e tomcat_java_heap_memory_percent="50" let's see how you get on with that setting. If that doesn't help then increase it by ten per-cent until you get to 80% - don't go any higher.
Let's also check your basic DNS settings while we're at it, do the following on the zimbra server: Code: host `hostname` <-- type as-is with backticks not single quotes
dig yourdomain.com mx
dig yourdomain.com any and post the details.
You realise that FC4 won't be supported in the upcoming Zimbra release 5, don't you? I assume you'll also be wanting to upgrade Zimbra before that?
