Default Can we turn off the autocomplete?

Hi, when we're sending a messagge, if we type into the "To:" field an incorrect name, for example like "robest" (instead robert), and the incorrect name there is not in GAL or address book... Zimbra autocomplete the adressee name adding the Zimbra default domain generating robest@mydefaultdomain.ext. It is possible turn off this autocomplete feature? Thank you. Paolo

You can completely disable the Autocomplete by unchecking the 'Autocomplete from GAL' option in the Admin UI COS.

We unchecked 'Autocomplete from GAL' in every panel (Admin UI COS, User Options...) but the result was that stopped the autocomplete ONLY from GAL, typing everything (like blabla) and pressing return key Zimbra (we suppose by an ajax feature into the web browser, not asking the LDAP) the address become blabla@mydomain.ext...

Apologies, wrong answer. The correct one is, no you can't do that. There is a bugzilla RFE for disabling it completely and you should vote on that if you want it implemented. I would say, however, that if you hit enter the intention is to make an assumption about who you want to send the email to - I don't see anything wrong with that.

Autocomplete from GAL is a great feature because the autocomplete is made from *real* addresses. Adding @mydomain.ext every time we type a simple username (without @....) is a big problem for us. Writing quickly an email we write often with a typing error the name of our collegues. Pressing the enter key (ok, we could be attention before press the key...) we can see the autocomplete feature and we believe that's all ok, but instead we'll receive the return mail "the recipient does not exist"... Why autocomplete a wrong (and arbitrary-supposed, not *real*) email address? We hope in the future will be a feature to turn on or turn off the @mydomain.ext autocomplete feature. Thank you very much for your support.

If you wish to see a change you'll either have to vote for the bug (the link in my earlier post) or file an RFE in bugzilla.
    Regards
