Question OS client access - evolution, zdesktop, thunderbird

    Hi all,

Using the free OS edition of Zimbra. I am setting up an Ubuntu box and would like to test Evolution. Does it work with the OS edition? I have the Zimbra server setup for both pop3 & imap.

While I'm asking... Can you use the Zimbra Desktop with the OS edition? I would love to test that as well.

    Thanks,
    Rob

    Yes and yes.

Note that the Evolution connector is available from Zimbra only as source; you may want to check the http://www.zimbra.com/forums/evolution-connector/ forum for instructions and community-built connector binaries.

dkarp - thanks for the help! My ubuntu box is now up and running, and am currently tinkering with Zimbra Desktop on another windows box.

So of course another person here has a question - can this work with thunderbird as well?

    Thanks,
    Rob

    Thunderbird & Lightning - ZimbraWiki

& this is in the works: Bug 6052 - CalDAV (Beta)

If you have trouble deleting events, mark the status of the item as 'canceled' & it will be removed during the next refresh.
discussion on that is here: /forums/administrators/11622-thunderbird-lightning.html

    Question

    Hi MMorse,

    Thanks for the reply.

Sunbird issue: I successfully set this up both using POP3 & IMAP. One issue, however, is that the folders I created in Zimbra web interface do not show up in Sunbird. Any idea how to fix this?

And a warning to anyone trying Sunbird - when I did the install, it "pulled" all of my emails from my inbox and deleted them from the server. There is a setting in Sunbird about this, but I didn't notice it until afterward.

    Thanks,
    Rob

sunbird should have nothing to do with mail...
are you perhaps talking about the below settings for POP in thunderbird?

in thunderbird, right click the account name > subscribe > pick the folders you want
