thanks..

question .. they say i should run this command as user 'zimbra' .. which the installer made... what is the default password for this ?? Can i change it via the normal way i change a linux user pw?? Would i need to restart the service if i change the password ?

the reason i ask, is because the password i set for the administrator of Zimbra doesnt seem to be the password for teh zimbra linux user on my box.

sorry if my questions are a bit silly.

If you log into the system as root you can just execute 'su - zimbra' to effectively become the zimbra user, and you won't be prompted for a password. I think there is a way to find the password through a Zimbra command, but I always just use the 'su' method.

this line
"echo mailrelay.example.com usernameassword > /opt/zimbra/conf/relay_password"

"mailrelay.example.com" should be my relay server address right.. ?

just want to make sure.

oh the above is a dumb question.. thanks for all the help.

yup (it should match the 'relay for external delivery' value you've already entered in the admin console gui -aka zimbraMtaRelayHost)

http://www.zimbra.com/forums/installation/365-smtp-relay-print.html (take special note of where he mentions that in the relay_Mta Henry got it to work via placing the ip address of the relay mta instead of its name)

and also

http://www.zimbra.com/forums/administrators/6041-trouble-sending-mail-all-messages-deferred.html (after i switched the IP address for the name in the gobal settings i was getting connection times... lucky i came across this link a few hours after )

so now i can send and receive email via my zimbra box using my relay_mta for sending mail externally..

thanks to all u good people.. i hope this helps someone who was stuck like me..

on another note .. is it possible for me to get an extended trial license of the network trial.(for another 15 days). since it took about 30+ days to figure out that issue ?

thanks a mil
