Pulling the GAL from external exchange server

Hey All,

I have searched for this and have yet to find what i'm looking for. Is it possible to Synch Zimbra to the GAL from our exchange server?

Welcome to the forums,

You can choose to have use the gal from internal only (zimbra's OpenLDAP), external directories only, or both internal & external.

In the Admin Console> domains> the domain> then the GAL tab/button

-Or are you asking zimbra ladp data exported to exchange? I could read "Synch Zimbra to the GAL from our exchange server" 2 ways, you could be meaning 'on' instead of 'from' so I just want to be sure.
-You can also choose to authenticate from the external LDAP/AD as well - users will need to be made (provisioned) in zimbra first though.
-Also see the Exchange Migration Wizard - available in your downloads tab (small wizard icon on left sidebar of the admin console) .

Thank you Glad to be here. I am quite impressed with Zimbra. I want to pull the GAL from our exchange server. It is already authenticating with AD.

The Book of Postfix from No Starch Press includes a script for running an LDAP query against Active Directory, to parse out all of the valid emails in the domain and update the Postfix installation.

You'd need to modify the Postfix update part, but the extraction part should do what you want.

The use case was for a Postfix server to act as an Exchange Smart Host, and thereby eliminate the need to expose the Exchange box to the open Internet.
