Default Create an archive of inactive users on an open source version?

We have one ZCS network edition server, with a number of users that are no longer with the company, but their e-mail must be maintained. Since I can find no way to delete a user account, but also maintain their e-mail store, is it possible to move users and their e-mail store from the network edition server to a new instance/server of the open source ZCS?

By removing the users from the network edition server, we do not have to regularly increase the number of licensed users and we do not have to continue to backup these users as part of the regular backups -- they only really need to be backed up once.

The easiest method would be to install the OSS version, create the account on that version then use Thunderbird to drag and drop the messages from one server to another. Now, that may be a problem if you have large mailboxes and/or many inactive users - if that's the case you could use IMAPSYNC to copy the mail across.

Bill,

Thanks for the reply. I am curious if

zmmailboxmove -a <email@address> -ow -s <servername> -t <movetoservername>

would do the trick, as described in the section "Moving a Mailbox" in the admin guide. Both servers would be using the same (Open Directory) LDAP for user authentication.

That's a good idea. To be honest I don't know the answer to that, the zmmailboxmove command is a NE only feature and I've never tried it with the target as an OSS edition server. My initial thought would be no, but there's only one way to find out......

Yeah... can I borrow a server and a bunch of free time to install and test this theory?

Finally got around to trying this, and it failed trying both the host name and IP address of the target host:

Error occurred: system failure: Target host <my OSS host> not found

Oh well.
