Hi,
when you start archiving an account that already exists, is there a way to import all existing mails into the archive?
Thanks
Christian

Hi,
want to bump that as this problem is getting more important to me.
When using the PST import wizard the imported mails are not archived as well.
I really need a way to get those old mails archived.
Thanks
Christian
When you say "as well" do you mean 'not at all'? or 'not with the same level of reliability'?
Because it's just forking messages at the smtp level...
You can imapsync the mainaccount>archiveaccount. (be sure to use the --syncinternaldates flag so the timestamps are the same)
(On a smaller scale, this would be the equivalent to copying the folders in thunderbird with the /tb flag set.)
I see an RFE coming: when running zmarchiveconfig, clone existing mail first.
(Your right, advertising the usage of the PST import wizard to archive existing mail doesn't seem right for companies that don't use outlook in the first place.)
However I urge you to contact support, as your an NE customer they could:
A) do this for you
or
B)tag your support ticket to a new (or existing) RFE so it gets more weight
And while your contacting support feel free to add these thoughts:
-An RFE for a solution to archive& discover cal/docs/tasks/contacts/briefcase as well...Though keep in mind current regulations are only for email.
Yes, backups solves it for most people, but it's not the same ability to 'cross mailbox search' of the cal/docs/tasks/contacts/briefcase.
(Think for briefcase you would just record file names & writes-cuz that would be a nightmare in storage.)
BTW, have you upgraded from 4.5.4? (we're about to hit .7)

Hi,
to make it more clear:
1. Existing Zibra account ->activate archive->old mails not in archive
This should probably be part of a RFE as you said and could for now be solved with imapsync.
Here I wonder: do the archive accounts have passwords when you do not set them explicitly??
2. New (empty) Zimbra account -> PST Wizard to import mails, contacts...-> no mails in archive
That is what really bugs me.
Well there are only 2 support tickets included in the customers contract, and I would like to save those for real problems.
I do not think that archiving is crucial for those, but enhancing search might be good. And while your contacting support feel free to add these thoughts:

Have to change my account details, we are running .6 as well as our customer with the problem.BTW, have you upgraded from 4.5.4? (we're about to hit .7)

I suggest you read the definition of Support Incidents again, RFEs do not count as an 'incident. You can always file an RFE yourself in bugzilla.

Bill
