[SOLVED] Sent folder pruning

I'm looking for a way to "auto prune" everyone's Sent folder - say delete any message more than 90 days old. I've looked around in the admin GUI and don't see it. Is there a global way to do that? Is there a way for users to set that up? I only see the option on the client end to enable the Sent folder.

There no automatic method in Zimbra for doing that. My questions would be: Why would you want to do it? Aren't the sent messages part of the message threads and don't you need them for reference?

Many of our users don't keep emails around very long or they delete the unimportant ones from their inbox. So even though their inbox is lean and mean, their Sent folder keeps growing and they forget that it adds to their quota. Having it as an option on the client side would be great.

I would have thought you might need it for any business audit trail. However, if you want this feature could you file an RFE in bugzilla (if there isn't one already) and send a support request and ask for the details to be added to the RFE.

Already taken care of
This will be in 5.0: Bug 13435 - User-definable expiration policy for systems folders
It will expand upon the trash & junk lifetimes and add retention policies for the system folders inbox & sent.

In the mean time, you could use the following quota warning notifications and modify them to contain the message body with something like:

You are currently using x% of your xsize mailbox quota. Even though your trash and junk auto empty after x & x days respectively, consider going through your sent mail as well. To find the oldest mail, you can sort 'sent' by assending order by clicking on the sent/date column (make it an upright triangle). You could also run the following in the search bar:
in:sent before:1/1/2006

BTW-These queries would all work (though I think 'before' is easier to remember)

hm, I don't see anything about the chats folder lifetime in RFE 13435....added a note
