Default Zimbra 5.0 Beta - Question on Briefcase

Read the new blog post regarding the addition of the Briefcase to version 5.0, and then checked it out a bit on my test server. Looks like pretty cool stuff!

The one question I have though is has any thought been given to possibly separating the Briefcase from other mail folders in terms of where the information is stored, quotas, and maximum file sizes? (I guess the same could be asked of Documents). I don't know, maybe I just need to adjust my way of thinking but I think it would be nice to be able to give the users say 1 GB for email, but maybe only 100 MB for the Briefcase, or something like that. And maybe I don't want 20 MB PowerPoint files clogging up the email system, but I wouldn't mind a user saving a file of this size to their Briefcase. Also, behind the scenes I think it would be a nice to be able to segregate the Briefcase info on the system storage because you could potentially use a different backup strategy or something like that for this information.

Ditto...that's exactly what we were thinking here too. Should we put in an RFE and start collecting votes?

Ya know, I was surprised no one caught the upper right corner of the screenshots before John made his blog post
Move Reading Pane?
Collaboration as treeview

Go for it Matt,
-Separate max file sizes
-Segregate briefcase storage
-The separate quotas one has been raised before with documents (from a user standpoint it just feels restrictive) but if the briefcase storage can integrate with other storage methods then I think separate quotas would become necessary again.

This brings up another idea: color code the quota bar to show how much from each section is used.
And so your not going through all the colors of the rainbow in a weird looking bar: just use two colors & darken in the part of the quota used for the 'application' your in.

BTW how did the Zimbra admin workshop/training sessions go? Nothing like a free trip to California

Well, I waited a few days to see if there would be any more feedback on these suggestions, and since no one said any of them wouldn't be possible I went ahead and created a couple of RFE's in Bugzilla.

Bug 19515 - Separate max file size for briefcase

Bug 19516 - Ability to segregate briefcase storage (also separate quota - figured they are kind of tied in).
