can be easily backupped archive (tapping) account?

Hi
i need to *save* or export or backup or what else an archive account created using "Archive and Discovery" utilty.
The archive account should be saved on a monthly basis; the media archive should be optical (say 4 GB dvd), so 1 dvd each month.
My customer want only optical media, no disk or san solution.
I need a solution that allow easily searching these storical dvd's using Discovery utilty, p.e.
I wonder if something is in place by zimbra or by third parties, without reinventing the wheel
