Default Instant Message Web Client returns error

Before I post this to Bugzilla as a bug, I just want to find out whether I'm doing something really stupid.

I just upgraded my test box (OpenSUSE 10.2) from 4.5.6 to 5.0Beta2. Everything is working fine except the IM client. I've enabled it in the COS, and it shows up as a tab, but in every browser that I've tried (Firefox 1.5 & 2 on PC & Mac, IE7 on PC), it doesn't work. It displays "Loading.." but nothing happens. If I click on the IM tab again, a javascript error occurs telling me that "this._gateways has no properties"

I ran Firebug against it and it shows both an IMGatewayListRequest and IMGetRosterRequest SOAP call being done the first time the IM tab is clicked on. Nothing is sent the second time.

I can't find any obvious errors in either mailbox.log or zmmailboxd.out

Anything I'm missing?

Thanks,
Steve Hillman

The IM client isn't really ready to use yet, even in the current beta. It is actively being worked on so I wouldn't file that as a bug just yet.

Default Beta 3 too...?

It looks like your answer applies to Beta 3 as well, no? I'm getting a similar error. I've got a jabber server I'd like to connect it to, but I'm assuming I just need to wait...?

This is being tracked in bug #19280 Bug 19280 - IM doesn't load

The latest update seems to be that it's still broken in the beta3 code that was released, but is fixed in beta4.

Yes, that's the bug - it's still broken. Beta4 should see the fix as per that report.

Default IM issue in beta 3

Any idea when the beta 4 release is due out? Or is there a fix that can be applied to beta 3?
I am running RH5 using zcs-5.0.0_BETA3_1276.RHEL5_64.20070822122306 and am having this issue with IM as well. Same error message.

Thanks

There's no fix available for that bug, we don't issue patches. Keep an eye on the Product Portal and the forums for the release announcement.

Hmm, 5.4 seems to be a bit late in coming :-)
Any ideas on when it's going to be released?

Thanks

Well, 5.4 doesn't exist yet but I guess you mean the next beta? That will be released when it's ready (release dates are always subject to review) but it will be soon.

Default IM not working in RC1?

Hmm. Just did a clean install of RC1 and I can't seem to add buddies after enabling IM with "/opt/zimbra/bin/zmprov mc default zimbraFeatureIMEnabled TRUE" and a Zimbra restart. Any thoughts?

RedHat 5-64 version
