Ok,

Installing using modified directions on debian 4.0... everything goes through the install process flawlessly, and the ui and everything stops and starts with nothng in the logs that would lead me to beleive anythign is setup wrong.

I turned off authentication on port 25 etc, and restarted zimbra server.

If I telnet into mail.mydomain.com port 25, it opens and connects, but no greeting or anything along those lines.

Before zimbnra was installed, there was no mail server or anythign else for that matter listening on port 25. Also, if I shut down zimbra nothing is listening on port 25 any longer.

On a side note, I get some errors with libshishi

zimbra@mydomain:~/bin$ telnet mail.mydomain.com 25

Yes, all dns resolves forward and reverse on this machine on this internal ip, and mx records are setup appropriately.
