Thanks again for the instructions mmorse. I have scheduled to do this tomorrow. A quick thought though, the server in question here has a small number of users. I can definately go down the path u've suggested, however would the below plan work?
- Create scripts based on current domains and users to automate creation
- Backup current /opt/zimbra on offsite server
- Uninstall/Clean current /opt/zimbra
- Ensure all zimbra processes are dead
- Change /etc/debian_version back to 4
- Clean install debian 4 binaries for 5.0.6
- Run above scripts for domain and user creations (passwords will get reset to a common value for the users to reset later)
- This last step is what I'm not sure off. Is there a way for me to now export current mailboxes of users to the new setup? Just to ensure their emails are still in their inbox/sent/drafts (something like cat>>test.txt, I know I might be oversimplifying things at this point!).
- It would be good if I can update their address books from the archive too but not a must have.
What do you think?
Best,
