hmmm, sounds oddly like the a certain large software maker's upgrade model to me....
I'm being sarcastic, of course.
Look, there are so many things that can be said in regard to this issue. Like, for instance, had you deployed back when you were considering it (I'm going to guess 3 months ago), then in your "theoretical 6 months", when the world ends, You'd be at 9 months. My point? 1) The software industry is always in flux. If you really think that Yahoo would invest 350 mil in Zimbra, and not want to "grow" it and throw it away, you're sorely mistaken. 2) Anyone who sits on the fence all the time, sits on the sideline.
Some of the views in this thread are indeed the vocal minority. How do I know that? I see the numbers. I also get the private messages, e-mails, and IMs from those who are too shy to post in this thread because some of you will flame them if they say something some of you don't agree with. While some are arguing about whether or not they'll deploy zimbra...sitting on the fence, we've been cranking out releases, and new features. Zimbra Desktop, Zimbra j2me, Perforce Cache, New ZCS Maintenance releases, and Zimbra for BES. You're missing it, and you'll continue to miss it.
We made a promise when this whole thing happened, and that promise has been that we will continue to do what we do best: Innovate. We haven't broken that promise. Our team doesn't come in every day to talk about Microsoft. Our team comes in, and we work, and do what we've done best since 2004.
I know that this post will not answer all of your questions, comments, suggestions, demands, etc.
Just please understand that 1) We support Yahoo! 100% in every single capacity and 2) as a public company, we cannot post any information that does not come from our parent. Such an action can be illegal. So please don't take our lack of posting on this issue as a negative sign.
So once again, while some of you will come in for your daily "MS News" on this thread, the rest of us will be enjoying Zimbra and the innovation and features we bring to the table.
