I'm not by the system at the moment, so I'll have to get back with the log running.
If sendmail is running, should I remove it from the system? I made the system fire.mydomain.com.au when I installed it, mydomain.com.au being a domain that I own, but don't currently have dns settings for. in /etc/hosts I removed references to it as it suggested during the install process leaving 127.0.0.1 with just the localhost and localhost.localdomain. I thought that I'd be able to send a test email locally. Or can't I do that because there is never an mx record for localdomain? Actually thinking about it, even if I was going to be doing a test, I should have just had admin@localdomain. hmm. should that work?
BTW to make sure I'm being clear at all I'm being literal when I'm saying localdomain, localhost etc, not using them as generic terms. |
