Actually it occurs to me that if you want to avoid the headaches of making your temporary server have different IPs on the same network (and that could be a real headache) you could set up your temp server on a standalone machine and network it with just your laptop/desktop PC (temporarily removed from the LAN entirely). Then you could use Tbird's local folders to copy your messages into from the dummy server, disconnect, reconnect to the live server, and copy them back into your IMAP folders.
There'll be a certificate issue when you connect to the dummy machine if you're using SSL connections, but you should be able to do it. . . |
