Disabling AV and reloading Postfix does not trigger mail flow, postfix continues to try to relay to clamav - afaik, this is a postfix issue/feature.

Wow, I will add you post to the bug. Have you tried to manually upgrade clamav. . but if it's occurring in 5.0 beta 3, then that may not fix it.
