It see the number of contacts and starts to import but then crashes with a memory error.

Should ACT work with the Zimbra connector.

I have reproduced this on two PCs

Oh and at least if you have to move to exchange make sure it is not your decision. That wey you can balame Microsoft for any mail issues in future.

Hi John,

I'm not sure I can answer your questions accurately as we use Act Premium 9 (2007 version).
But we did have a problem trying to export from our old Act 6 database to Act 9.
According to our Act expert when it happened to us, he looked the error message up on Google and it said something about some kind of Bulk Import setting? If you have this on when importing into Act from whatever source then it imports much quicker but crashes often, if you turn it off then it takes a lot longer but does not crash.
Does this make any sense as I am not an Act expert nor do I want to be as I can't stand it?! If I find out anything clearer I'll let you know.

We have found that using the Zimbra connector for Outlook 2003 and setting Act 9 to use Outlook 2003 as its default mail program does not work, the messages can be created but will not send from Act or it causes Act to crash (which happens quite often with or without the plugin!).
To get around it we use the Act Email interface connecting to Outlook Express, we set Outlook Express to use the Zimbra IMAP server and this works quite well, Act still keeps the history of the mail and the mail appears in Zimbra Sent folder. Mind you, Act still crashes frequently this way too. But at least you can then still use Outlook 2003 with the plugin or just the Zimbra interface itself.

I really don't want to move to Exchange but if the management insist on Act working correctly then we may one day have to drop Zimbra and go over to MS Exchange.
But this would be over my dead (or fired) body!
There is a very faint beam of light peeping through the Act clouds though. They have announced that they are dropping MS SQL and producing future versions of Act in MySQL. Hopefully, this is a good sign.

Hope this is of some help.

Russ
