Unhappy Zimbra fails to install on SuSE 10

I am very new to linux package installation, specially from command line. Mainly experienced on web development.
I first tried installing zimbra on a vmware SuSE 10 and it failed to install with following error:

Error: attempting to install i386 packages on a x86_64 OS.

I created a 32 bit server using i586 SuSE CD and after fixing couple of problems I get the message " unknown platform this may or maynot work continue anyway?" I choose yes and after couple of steps and checking for libraries and those required component mentioned in installation guide, it stops
after unpacking zimbra-core (sorry I don't have exact error now) I checked the /tmp/install.log and I have couple of lines ending with "done" and then
"zimbra core needed for ldap package failed dependencies" and it exits.
My SuSE installation is the minimum text mode installation and I stopped postfix and changed the sudoers mode to 0640, I also noticed there is no sendmail service as I tried to stop it (error: not such a service)
I have not set the MX record or hostname on this machine since it is temporary and I want to see if it works up to certain point. Does anyone know what is the problem?

Thanks a lot
