I changed my MTA settings to match (the only key difference was that I had the MTA hostname set to be the actual fqdn of the zimbra server - but was able to send via IMAP from Outlook 2003 with that).
This is my current MTA tab (and nothing is overridden on the server's settings):
(see attached file - i had to force the attachment to < 280 pixels tall, sorry).
With the hostname now set to "localhost" and the same settings, I'm getting the "Invalid Message Recipients" message back (and WM5 saves a copy of my attemped outgoing message in the drafts folder). Emails addressed to any internal (ie., on the server) email address continue to work fine.
Right now, I'm testing this via the USB-ActiveSync connection, so the phone is using my internet connection from thru my laptop (just to ensure that it's not my mobile provider blocking any ports). I can't believe how frustrated I am with myself for not having solved this. I suppose in a few weeks it won't matter, when 3.2 is released (although for customers with non-WM/PPC phones that have IMAP clients, it will). |
