Hi,
I had the same problem. I solved it the following way:
1. Try to run openldap manually
(or via zimbra/libexec/ldapinit) which will provide you with a more detailed error message.
2. Solve the mentioned error (in my case sudoers wasn't installed correctly).
3. Kill running ldap and
4. run zimbra/libexec/zmsetup.pl to continue the installation.
