One of my users had the same issue, and he figured out a fix (for him):

Under Settings/Mail, Contacts, Calendar/Calendars, I changed the Sync setting from "All Events" to "Events 1 month back" and the entries suddenly appeared.
I've since changed the Sync setting back to "All Events" and "Events 6 months back" and they haven't disappeared. I'm going to leave it at "6 months back" for now.
Best theory I have is that the initial transfer of "All Events" for indefinitely-reoccurring is too large and perhaps the server rejects it or it's too much data to transfer?
