In order to run ZD 1.0.x, user must be an admin user for the xp machine. Is this the case for you?

In the coming ZD 2.0, we no longer require that.

Also, please zip up these files and attach to this thread.

BACKGROUND: FWIW I have worked in IT 15 years, worked with linux over 10, I am not a noob. And yes I did STFF. The supplied "fixes" at Zimbra FAQ and this forum did not resolve the issue

I have been running a trial of Zimbra Desktop & looking to replace our email server with the Zimbra Suite. I have had ZERO problems with the ZDesk on my Ubuntu 9.10 PC (3 weeks now), but today when I went to do an install on a WinXPsp3 PC for my first non-techie user...complete failure! This is VERY embarrassing after I have convinced this person how much better Zimbra is than the Outlook client they were using! Cannot launch, cannot uninstall

(ATTENTION ZIMBRA SUPPORT>>>THIS IS VERY MUCH A SALES KILLER!!!!).

At the very least, when an install goes south FOR ANY REASON, INCLUDING USER ERROR, your uninstall routine should be capable of removing all the detritus & registry entries. I don't care if its a batch file that runs in a terminal session. Needing a 3rd party removal utility smacks too much of malware.

If Zimbra wants folks to move to the commercial offering, having a flaky "community edition" does not instil any confidence. I cannot sell management on purchasing the commercial version when something so basic, goes so wrong. I don't expect the application to never misbehave (been using MS crapware too long for that) but at least FIX THE INSTALL/UNINSTALL routine.

Regards
Ken
