I thought I was having the same issue with 6.0.2 on Ubuntu 8.04. I then realized that I was logged into the admin console as myself, rather than as admin. I logged in as admin and the server status displayed correctly and indicated that everything was running ok. Not sure if this is your issue as well, but thought I would mention it just in case.
