Hello Matnor,

I am new to zimbra. Using it for the last 6 months or so. The version we use is "Release 5.0.10_GA_2638.RHEL5_64_20081003025450 RHEL5_64 NETWORK edition". Now I would like to upgrade it to 5.0.18 ubuntu 8.04 lts version on a different server. The problem with the current server is that the disk ie /opt/zimbra comes from the SAN storage. Whenever we do maintenance on the SAN, the mail server goes for a toss. In order to avoid it, I have bought a AMD server with 3 TB local SAS disks. I would like to install ubuntu 8.04 lts and install the latest version of ZCS, then migrate the users and the data. I looked at the wiki and forums. I find it to be quite difficult. I gather, I upgrade the present ZCS to the latest edition on the existing server. Then take a 0 level backup and incremental backup, then restore it from the backup on the new server. Is it the way to do it? What is the idea of the OS specific binaries. In some cases, I find that just install the new ZCS version and copy /opt/zimbra from the old to the new server provided the ZCS version on the old server is the same. I still do not get it, how old /opt/zimbra could be copied on a different OS? I would appreciate your help in this regard.

Thanks.
