It should be some sort of configuration issue as both formats work on our internal BES. For instance, it is possible that at the time of activation email address used on enterprise activation screen on device does not match email address that is stored in the GAL. That is why it maybe important to update GAL with new format of email address and then do GAL resync on BES before performing enterprise activation.
