No that's not the way to do it.

You really don't want to host a backup MX yourself as it's a target for spammers. You'd be far better using a professional service that provides that fucntion, I have my DNS records hosted at easyDNS and they provide a backup mail server - it holds mail for up-to five days and when the server is up again it gets forwarded to your server. You'll find other services like that if you do an internet search, they're not free (usually) but they're usually inexpensive.
