Correct on that. I think if you're going to use SSL SMTP you're going to need to open TCP/465 on your firewall. If you have the mobile add-on it's a shame you're not using it. It would really be the way to go. I assume you're also not giving your users webmail access if you have port 443 closed as well. I guess I don't see why you would have POP3(s) or IMAP(s) open, but not HTTPS.
