Unfortunately this thread is yet another rehash of a now old topic and
one that certainly should not have to exist. For those that missed it, a number
of months back it became apparent that Zimbra had no further interest in supporting
OpenSuSE. There was an open revolt by I guess....two of us regulars here. The
reasons given were download numbers and the usual lame digression about OpenSuSE lifecycle which is really a non issue. If an admin wants to deal with the regular updates of OpenSuSE then so be it, there's no need for the software provider to worry about it. If they aren't supporting it anyway other than through free forums then who cares honestly. It just adds to the knowledge of the community when interesting issues come up. As far as the download numbers go there is merit in them considering thier time packaging for a distro that doesn't seem to be gathering the numbers of the others. My challenge was that perhaps OpenSuSE users haven't yet discovered Zimbra and that now isn't really the time to be dropping distros, but that rebuttal went nowhere. So if you feel you must rehash this topic, by all means go ahead. I'm still running OpenSuSE 10.2 and 5.0.9. It works today and will likely work until I retire it at some point. If they decide to package OpenSuSE again then I'll keep using it, otherwise I'm moving to CentOS. OpenSuSE runs circles around the other rpm based distros though.
