The feature you are looking for is default domain this is at
Global Setting -> General Info -> Default Domain. Then stop and restart the service.
The Virtual domain is more for multiple domains where you have
user1@example1.com and
user2@example2.com then you will then need to create virtual host for test.example2.com.
