Both the /store and /backup directories make use of hard links, which cifs doesn't support.

Zimbra's documentation also discourages the use of NFS, though others on the forum here report success.

What we have done for cost-conscious, smaller self-hosted Zimbra installs (on HP servers) is to get a 6402 SCSI RAID controller, an MSA30 JBOD enclosure, and a bunch-O 10K U320 SCSI disks--all used on ebay.

For less than the cost of that Linksys, you can get a terabyte of high-performance RAID6 or RAID10 local storage. Configure one or more disks as hot spares and you've got automated disk failover too.

Now, you can put /opt/zimbra/backups and your HSM stores on the JBOD no problem.

If you want to put your current store on the MSA30 disks, just get 15K drives instead.

Hope that helps,
Mark
