Default need to import old Zimbra messages into Zimbra desktop

I had been happily using Zimbra desktop under windows xp for the past three months to connect to my university email server via POP. Over the past weekend my university switched to ZCS as their email server. I was able to connect and receive messages as normal after the switch but could not send mails. Ironically, Zimbra desktop was not even supported by my university and they had no clue on how I should rectify the situation. So left to my own devices I managed to get the desktop working with the Zimbra Server but only after removing my original account. In the process I lost all of the mail, folders, contacts etc that I had on my original Zimbra desktop. I believe I still have all that information however as I took care to backup the /zimbra/zdesktop directory before removing the account.

Now I would like to know if there is any way to get those emails, contacts, etc back into my Zimbra desktop so that I can manipulate them in a practical way. Going through each .msg file in the zimbra /store directory just ain't gonna cut it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am getting none from my own IT folks as they specifically have told me they won't support Zimbra desktop.

Thanks for listenting,

jeff
