The batch is for all platforms, it's essentially a text file re-named .tag but compressed in a .zip which pretty much any operating system has tools to extract.
It fixes an issue where you can't save changes to account settings - like turning on additional debug trace logging to ~/zimbra/zdesktop/log which is often needed needed to diagnose issues - like your thread here

After you follow the directions in the first post above to install the patch go to setup > account > enable debug logging checkbox.
