Management Team

Satish Dharmaraj, Co-founder and CEO
Prior to founding Zimbra, Satish was VP of the Messaging Product Division at Openwave Systems, responsible for the email, unified messaging, voicemail, and instant messaging product lines. Satish managed the engineering and product management teams which had over 200 people and a $45 million budget. While at Openwave, Satish's division deployed 180 million mailboxes worldwide with the largest deployments being 20 million mailboxes at JPhone and KDDI in Japan. Satish previously was part of the founding team at the unified messaging company Onebox, where he led engineering and network operations, and was instrumental in the sale of Onebox to Phone.com for $850 million. Prior to Onebox, Satish was at Sun Microsystems' JavaSoft Division where he was responsible for the conception, design and implementation of Java Server Pages (JSPs); in addition, he led the team that designed and implemented the Java Servlet API. Satish previously held several positions at IBM and Transarc Corporations. Satish has BS and MS degrees in Computer Sciences and an executive management degree from Harvard Business School.
Scott Dietzen, Ph.D., President and Chief Technology Officer
Prior to Zimbra, Scott was CTO of BEA Systems where he was the principal architect of the technology strategy for the WebLogic product family, which drove the company from $61 million in revenue for the year prior to WebLogic's acquisition to over $1 billion. He was also one of BEA's top spokespersons with customers, business partners, analysts, and the press. Scott came to BEA in 1998 via the $200+ million acquisition of WebLogic, a pioneer in Java and web application technology. He is credited with helping put together the J2EE standard, launching the Web application server category, launching the Java Community Process, and driving the web services collaboration with Microsoft and IBM. Prior to WebLogic, Scott was Principal Technologist for Transarc (acquired by IBM), a developer of distributed transaction and information sharing systems. He earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science and B.S. in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University.
Ross Dargahi, Co-founder and VP of Product Development
Prior to co-founding Zimbra, Ross was Director of Engineering and Director of Product Management with the Messaging Products Group at Openwave Systems. At Openwave, Ross built and led the engineering team that designed and architected large-scale messaging subsystems and was responsible for unified messaging, multimedia messaging (MMS), and voicemail. Ross joined Openwave as part of the 1999 acquisition of Onebox where he was a founding engineer and senior architect. Prior to Onebox, Ross was at Sun Microsystems' JavaSoft division where he was a lead engineer with the Java Server Group responsible for network computer and embedded server products. Ross has held senior positions at Knight-Ridder Information, The Baylor College of Medicine's Medical Informatics and Computing Research Program, The Keck Center for Computational Biology, and Rice University. Ross earned his BS in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Houston.
Roland Schemers, Co-founder and VP of Technology
Roland was the Chief Architect of large-scale messaging subsystems at Openwave, Onebox and Portola Communications, which developed what became the Netscape Mail Server. Prior to co-founding Zimbra, Roland was Chief Architect with the Messaging Products Group at Openwave Systems where he built the large-scale UM system that serviced 4 million consumer UM mailboxes containing over 2500 voice ports. Roland joined Openwave as part of the acquisition of Onebox where he was a founding engineer and senior architect. Previously, Roland was employed at Sun Microsystems' SunSoft and JavaSoft divisions. At JavaSoft he was technical lead for the Security group, responsible for designing and implementing key features of the Java 2 security model. Roland has worked for Stanford University in architecture and development roles, focusing on infrastructure security. Roland earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science from Oakland University in Michigan.
Kevin Kluge, VP of Engineering
Kevin shares the responsibility for the development of Zimbra's products, and is responsible for the quality and technical support of Zimbra's solution. Most recently, Kevin was Vice President of Engineering for Corvigo, a leading anti-spam provider. At Corvigo, Kevin led the engineering effort for a product that won several industry awards, including Network World's "Best of Test" for appliances. Prior to Corvigo, Kevin was Director of Engineering at Openwave Systems, where he led engineering for multiple innovative products, including instant messaging, voicemail, and multi-media messaging services (MMS). Kevin has also held leadership positions at Sun Microsystems and Portola Communications. Kevin earned his BS and MS in Computer Science from Stanford University.
Andy Pflaum, VP of Business Development
Andy oversees Zimbra's relationship with sales and technology partners. Prior to Zimbra, Andy was sales and marketing director at SEVEN Networks, a leader in mobile email software for enterprises. At SEVEN, Andy was responsible for partner relationships, including managing the company's alliance with Hewlett-Packard. Andy also managed relationships with enterprises using SEVEN's award-winning software. Before SEVEN, Andy was evangelist for next-generation messaging products at Openwave Systems. Andy joined Openwave via the acquisition of the unified messaging company Onebox, where he helped drive partnerships with wireless operators such as Sprint and Telus. Andy earned his B.A. from the University of North Carolina and his MBA from Stanford University.
John Robb, VP of Marketing and Product Management
Prior to Zimbra, John was the Director of Messaging Products at Openwave Systems (OPWV). John managed the business and product strategy for the mobile messaging group which included the multimedia messaging (MMS), voice mail and instant messaging product lines. Prior to Openwave, John held director-level roles at Mspect (acquired by Telephia) and Cellmania where he was responsible for leading the teams that defined product strategy and go to market planning. John has also worked at McKinsey in Europe, Chase Bank in online banking and brokerage and at SBC in new product development. John has an MBA from Chicago GSB, as well as a B.A. in Political Science and a B.S. in Environmental Engineering from Northwestern University.
Jim Morrisroe, VP of Sales
Jim is an experienced sales veteran who brings to Zimbra 15 years of software sales and software sales management, both in the U.S. and in international markets. Prior to joining Zimbra, Jim ran sales for Cemaphore Systems, a provider of Messaging Services Management (MSM) software. At Cemaphore, Jim helped the company grow revenues from zero to $15 million dollars during the first two years of field operations. Prior to Cemaphore, Jim served in sales management positions for Internet Security Systems, Lucent Technologies and Cabletron Systems. Included in Jim's career accomplishments, is a performance track record of exceeding sales objectives for 40 consecutive quarters. Jim holds a BBA from Gonzaga University.
